Whatever you like, there are options out there. For a cheaper entry level joystick, the Logitech Extreme Pro 3D Joystick or Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick are affordable choices. For mid-tier joysticks and throttles, the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS and the CH Products Pro Throttle USB are both decent.
It's designed around simulation flying, and even includes a dual throttle for controlling two separate motors (though they can be linked to use as a single control in Elite: Dangerous). While the Warthog comes with Thrustmaster's T.A.R.G.E.T. programming software, Frontier Developments has already baked in a control profile just for Elite
Select the “Input” tab at the top of your screen. Choose “Customize Controls.”. Open the drop-down menu in the “Select Preset” field. Select your HOTAS device. If the game doesn’t automatically recognize your HOTAS device, you’ll have to choose Keyboard, Gamepad, or Empty, then manually map your controls. Select “Input Method

Elite dangerous really takes off (pun intended) using a HOTAS. It feels like a totally different game and it becomes fun just to literally fly around. When I first started I used a joystick only with keyboard and that was pretty good but once I got the full setup it was amazing.

Testing the Joystick in Elite Dangerous. After setting up and calibrating your joystick for Elite Dangerous, it’s time to put it to the test and see how well it performs in the game. Testing the joystick will allow you to ensure that all the controls are functioning correctly and that you have a smooth and immersive gaming experience.
Military-grade Space and Flight Sim Precision. Saitek introduces the new X-56 Rhino H.O.T.A.S. System. Built to the same exacting standards of Saitek's award-winning Pro Flight range, the X-56 Rhino delivers a multitude of customizable options including all the control surface options required to achieve the exact level of performance that aspiring combat pilots demand.
Dual VKB's One is pitch/roll/yaw, the other is vert/horizontal/fore-aft. I've also set up one of the 4-ways on top to be throttle down/75%/throttle up/0% With FA-ON, Generally I use the 4-way to set the throttle at a "neutral" position and use the fore-aft control to add that littel fudge needed at that second. Vertical thrust assigned to a rocker switch on the stick, reverse thrust on a hat switch on the throttle. Pedals - lateral thrust on the left/right toe brakes. No yaw on the stick, all done through the pedals. Control menu assignment 'YAW/ROLL Button' Allows me to swap yaw between the stick and pedals.

The game automatically creates a new profile called "custom" when you swap any defaults from the X-56 default set up for Elite. The only time I use the Logitech software is when I turn my X-56 off for the night and then start up Elite the next day w/o turning on my HoTAS first. Then my ship will just aimlessly float in space.

Yes, I have both, I switch between them because there are some things that are just plain easier and faster to do on a gamepad. In general : Precision and lots of turning is easier on the HOTAS. Trading and doing stuff in menu's and plonking down on a landing zone at top speed I find easiest using a gamepad.
Dec 11, 2020. #2. Most throttles are essentially single axis joysticks turned sideways. There are very few mapping changes you'd have to make between a HOTAS and HOSAS to get an acceptable experienceother than binding the addition axes sensibly.
The obvious options for me would be (based on what I have available): An analogue joystick (which has about 10 buttons) with throttle, combined with keyboard. A dual stick game-pad with keyboard. Mouse and keyboard. One of the previous 3 options, combined with voice controls - I am aware of that 3rd party software that integrates with the AI
They should be map in the same way the flight tutorials are mapped out. It really is not cool to buy 150 sticks or 100 hotas setup and it not work. Yes i have used both and dual sticks is what i like best. I know about \EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-64\ControlSchemes none are dual sticks. Dev's help on this would help
Elite Dangerous > General Discussions > Topic Details. Cotoi Feb 11, 2017 @ 5:49am. SRV scanner. I know the guys who decide the layout of things has an iQ of 60 or less, but can someone tell me how do I lock things in SRV and how I make the data scanner to work. They made a point in making a game in it's self to see hos things work in this so
